How it All Started:
While traveling the world, Breezy Green’s founder Brianna Mersey saw the accumulation of plastic trash scattered around every country she visited. She decided to enrol in a Master’s of Environmental Studies program at York University on her return to Canada. She learnt about the garbage vortex floating in the pacific ocean the size of Texas and other horrifying stories of environmental degradation. Being an entrepreneur at her basic being, she was determined to start an environmentally minded business. Thus began, Breezy Green, a purveyor of eco chic dinner ware that is backyard compostable and chemical free. It’s not Elon Musk’s Model 3 but hey it’s a step forwards towards a zero waste society. And we are committed to reducing our CO2 emissions and improving all aspects of our supply chain.
During COVID this is a particularly great option for single use utensils and plates. Check out my friends enjoying an outdoor birthday party, using our wood cutlery and sugarcane plates. After dinner we were able to throw them all in the outdoor fireplace, keeping us warm on a brisk June Vancouver evening. Burn bright baby!

If you’re looking for a new book to read (or listen to), Naomi Klein’s On Fire: the Burning Case for a Green New Deal, is excellent. She does a great job of explaining what’s happening with the right wing middle class and why we seem to be less motivated to address the eminence of environmental colapse.
